Dr. Carrie Uehlein grew up in northern Ohio and knew she would have a career in veterinary medicine from a very young age. It was not just her love of all animals that brought Dr. Uehlein into this field.  She had an innate need to help those who could not help themselves.  The level of care she provides to her patients and the kindness and empathy she shows to her clients has made Dr. Uehlein a well known and respected veterinarian in the Lake Norman and greater Charlotte region.  Dr. Uehlein deeply understands the bond we share with our pets and truly treats her patients as if they were her own.

Dr. Uehlein has developed a special interest in Soft Tissue Surgery, Oncology, and Internal Medicine throughout her years of practice. She has great success in finding a cure for disease through surgery, solving complicated medicine cases, and using chemotherapy thoughtfully for her patients.  When she joined The Veterinary Hospital of Davidson in 2014, Dr. Uehlein began studying Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. She finds joy in using holistic methods to treat and often heal her patients. These modalities include food therapy, Chinese herbs, whole food supplements, and acupuncture.  Dr. Uehlein achieved her certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in 2017 and has advanced training in ultrasound.

Maintaining a balance between her career and home life is important to Dr. Uehlein. She is fortunate her immediate family has also moved to the Lake Norman area so she is able to spend quality time with her nieces and nephews. When she is not at the hospital, you may find Dr. Uehlein hiking at Latta plantation with her dog, kayaking on Mountain Island Lake, enjoying a craft beer at a local brewery with her sisters, or heading to the US National Whitewater Center for the day.
